How to Cook Spaghetti Squash 2 Easy Ways

Learn how to cook spaghetti squash two easy ways—either cut in half or baked whole. Once it’s tender, use a fork to pull the flesh into strands and serve it with butter and Parmesan or your favorite sauce.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 spaghetti squash
  • Butter or oil optional
  • Salt, pepper, Parmesan, parsley for serving optional

Instructions
 

Method 1: Cut in half

  • Preheat oven to 350℉.
  • Wash squash and cut in half longways.
  • Use a spoon or ice cream scoop to scoop out all the seeds.
  • Butter or oil cut edges and place cut side down on rimmed baking sheet.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 35-40 minutes until you can easily stick a fork all the way through it.
  • Use a fork to flake the strands apart.
  • Serve as a side with butter and seasonings, or with pasta sauce, or use in a casserole.

Method 2: Bake Whole

  • Preheat oven to 350℉.
  • Wash squash and use a sharp knife to pierce all over with holes. Make sure to get all the way to the center.
  • Put on a rimmed baking sheet.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 60-90 minutes until you can easily stick a fork all the way to the middle.
  • Use a spoon or ice cream scoop to scoop out all the seeds.
  • Use a fork to flake the strands apart.
  • Serve as a side with butter and seasonings, or with pasta sauce, or use in a casserole.
